Grade 1 is the highest level of Thoroughbred racing with the biggest purses, the best horses, and the most prestige. 14 Grade 1 races means the Breeders’ Cup weekend includes 14 championship-level races, each featuring elite horses from around the world.
The undercard refers to all the races run before and between those main Grade 1 events on the same days. These races are usually lower-grade stakes, allowance races, or other competitive contests that fill out the entire race schedule, give fans action throughout the day, and showcase additional horses, trainers, and jockeys.

Officials has unveiled the official logo for the 2026 World Championships, featuring the Breeders’ Cup’s signature purple with Keeneland green accents in a circular design highlighting the event’s tradition and prestige. The logo will appear across marketing, broadcast, merchandise, and digital platforms.
The Breeders’ Cup comes to Keeneland alongside the track’s new three-level Paddock Building, which spans the Saddling Paddock and Walking Ring. Hosting over 1,000 fans with dining, bars, and a Paddock Lawn, the building also features a Jockeys’ Quarters where riders pass through a dining venue for a front-row experience. Reconfigured lower-level saddling stalls enhance safety and give fans unmatched views of pre-race pageantry, reflecting Keeneland’s commitment to modern hospitality and an elevated race-day experience.
