After 20 years on Mill Street, Goodfellas will relocate to a new downtown home that allows the restaurant to expand while staying rooted in the city where it all began.

The move marks one of the biggest milestones for the Lexington-born pizzeria since opening its first location in 2006. The new space will feature a full-service dining room with significantly more seating, a hidden Wiseguy Lounge downstairs, and the same New York-style pizza that has become a downtown staple for nearly two decades.

For many Lexington residents, the Mill Street location has become more than just a pizza shop. It’s where late-night traditions were born, where college students grabbed a slice after the bars closed, where first dates turned into lasting relationships, and where countless celebrations ended with a giant slice of pizza.

The community’s response to the announcement has reflected just how much those memories mean.

Hundreds of comments poured in across social media, with longtime customers sharing stories spanning nearly 20 years. Some remembered waiting in line on cold winter nights and eating outside because every seat was taken. Others reflected on bringing their children to Mill Street for years, celebrating milestones, or simply making Goodfellas part of every night out downtown.

While many expressed nostalgia for the original location, the overwhelming response has been excitement that Goodfellas is remaining in the heart of downtown while expanding into a space that addresses one of the restaurant’s longest-standing challenges: seating.

For years, guests have asked for more room to dine in. The new location finally makes that possible while introducing an entirely new experience with the addition of the Wiseguy Lounge.

Although the address is changing, Goodfellas says its commitment to downtown Lexington is not.

Mill Street will always be where the Goodfellas story began. The new location represents the next chapter—one that preserves everything guests love while creating room to serve even more of the Lexington community for years to come.

Construction is now underway, and more details—including sneak peeks inside the new space—will be shared as the project progresses.
