Getting around downtown Lexington is about to get a lot easier, and cheaper.
Starting April 2, Lextran has launched LexRide, a new seasonal circulator that connects some of the city’s most popular spots for just $1 per ride. Whether you’re heading out for dinner, drinks, or a night on the town, LexRide aims to make downtown travel simple and stress-free.
The service runs Thursday through Saturday evenings from 4 p.m. to midnight through October, connecting key destinations like downtown, the Distillery District, and the Warehouse Block/National Avenue area. Instead of worrying about parking or juggling rideshares, riders can simply catch a bus that comes every 12 to 15 minutes.

LexRide brings a more modern feel to downtown transit, with real-time tracking available through the MyStop app and easy tap-to-pay options using contactless cards or mobile wallets. The buses themselves will be clearly branded and fully accessible, making them easy to spot and use.
Local leaders say the service is about more than just convenience, it’s about making downtown more connected and vibrant. Mary Quinn Ramer, president of VisitLEX, says the goal is to help both locals and visitors explore the city without the usual headaches of traffic and parking.
Even better: transfers are free. Riders can switch between LexRide loops or connect to other Lextran routes at no extra cost, as long as it’s within a 90-minute window.
LexRide is launching as a pilot program backed by a group of local partners, including the City of Lexington, the Fund for Greater Lexington, LEXPARK, and the Downtown Lexington Partnership. If it goes well, there’s a good chance it could stick around or even expand.
One dollar, one ride, and a much easier way to experience downtown Lexington.
