Koby Keenum. Barion Brown. Mark Stoops. Dane Key. Maxwell Hairston. Kentucky beats Ohio 41-6. Elliott Hess | UK Athletics

The University of Kentucky is preparing for thousands of fans to descend upon Kroger Field each Saturday. To help create a seamless and safe game day experience, UK Athletics has released updated guidelines for tailgating, mobile ticketing, parking, and stadium entry.

Tailgating Guidelines for 2025

All setups must be removed by Saturday, December 6 at 5 p.m. ET.

To prevent abandoned property, every tent, trailer, and tailgate structure must be tagged with the owner’s full name, phone number, and email address. Tags can be picked up from Gate 1 at Kroger Field, or fans may bring their own.

For safety reasons, structures that are staked more than four inches into the ground require prior approval from UK Athletics. Permanent structures are prohibited, and fans are reminded to avoid staking near tree roots or blocking parking spaces. Violators risk having their items removed or towed.

Mobile Ticketing Now Required

UK Athletics has fully transitioned to mobile ticketing. All game tickets and parking passes will be delivered digitally and must be accessed through a mobile device. Fans are strongly encouraged to save their tickets to Apple Wallet or Google Pay prior to arrival.

Screenshots and printed PDFs will not be accepted. The move is part of an ongoing effort to streamline stadium access and improve security, as mobile barcodes refresh dynamically to prevent duplication.

Parking and RV Details

Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. on game days, and all vehicles must display a valid mobile permit. Tow-behind trailers and large tailgating setups may be subject to special regulations, and fans should consult fire code guidelines in advance.

RV parking begins Friday at 8 p.m. for permit holders. Visiting fans without a permit may access designated visitor RV lots on a first-come, first-served basis.

Stadium Entry and Clear Bag Policy

Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff, though entry times may vary—check your mobile ticket for details.

To expedite entry, fans must follow the clear bag policy:

  • Bags must be clear plastic and no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″.
  • One small clutch (4.5″ x 6.5″ max) is allowed.
  • Backpacks, diaper bags, and oversized bags are prohibited.

Fan Services and Accessibility

Shuttles are available from several campus and downtown Lexington locations for just $1 each way, and accessible parking is provided near WT Young Library. UK also offers an ADA shuttle service running pre- and post-game from Gate 6.

Guest Services booths will be located near gates 1, 4, 9, and 12 to assist fans with questions, lost items, or special accommodations. First aid stations, family restrooms, and nursing suites are also available.

Parents may request child identification wristbands at Guest Services to assist with reunification in case of separation.

Sustainability Efforts on Display

UK Athletics is committed to reducing waste and has made recycling easy for fans. Upon entering parking lots, fans will receive recycling bags that can be left behind after the game. Inside Kroger Field, blue recycling bins are available throughout the concourses.

In 2023, the program diverted 32% of game day waste, with a long-term goal of zero waste by 2030.

Reminders and Prohibited Items

To ensure a safe environment, fans are reminded that the following items are not allowed:

  • Weapons, fireworks, and explosives
  • Outside food and beverages
  • Pets (except service animals)
  • Drones and remote-controlled devices
  • Inflatable balls and noisemakers

Umbrellas are permitted but may not be opened in seating areas. Stadium chair backs under 18 inches wide are allowed or can be rented on site.

Additionally, fans are strictly prohibited from entering the field of play after the game. Violations carry significant fines under SEC regulations, with potential penalties reaching up to $500,000.

Looking Ahead to Kickoff

With the season opener around the corner, fans are encouraged to plan ahead, download their tickets early, and review all tailgating and stadium guidelines before arriving at Kroger Field.
