Toyota has announced that the 2027 Toyota Highlander, its reimagined three-row SUV, will be assembled at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky in Georgetown. The model marks a significant transformation for one of America’s most popular midsize SUVs and a strengthening of Kentucky’s role in the future of electric vehicles.
The all-new 2027 Highlander will be Toyota’s first battery-electric three-row SUV assembled in the United States, combining bold new styling, modern tech features, and family-friendly versatility with an all-electric powertrain.

Assembling the Highlander in Kentucky highlights the Commonwealth’s continued importance in automotive production. Toyota’s Georgetown plant, already one of the largest and most productive vehicle assembly facilities in North America, is adding EV production to a long list of vehicles built in the Bluegrass State.
For Kentucky, this represents more than just another car factory announcement, it’s another affirmation of the state’s place in the evolving automotive industry, creating jobs and cementing the region’s status as a hub for both traditional and electric vehicle production.
The 2027 Highlander is expected to begin rolling off Kentucky’s assembly line in late 2026, with sales continuing into 2027.
